The tools needed to produce the deliverable
Fabrik focuses on plan readability, equipment identification and documents that can be handed to the client or included in a French administrative submission.
Cameras and numbering
Place dome, PTZ dome, bullet or turret cameras and automatically assign a reference to each one. Dedicated symbols are also available for the monitor, NVR and power supply.
2D coverage areas
Orient each camera and display a horizontal sector on the plan. DORI zones can support plan reading from the entered parameters, without a 3D simulation of mounting height, tilt or obstacles.
Documented camera data
Enter horizontal resolution and the HFOV from the camera datasheet, or use available sensor and focal-length values. Brand, reference and installation location can be recorded as well.
Cable routes
Draw connections between equipment with the lasso or point by point. The plan shows the intended route but does not calculate bandwidth, storage, PoE requirements or a bill of materials.
Site and installation records
Document the installation environment, location and whether a camera views a public road. GPS coordinates remain optional appendix information rather than a condition for creating the plan.
Exports and prefilled French form
Lay out the plan with a title block and legend, then export it to PDF, PNG or SVG. Project data can also prefill French form CERFA 13806*04 and its camera appendix; the other application documents remain separate.
From floor plan to handover document
A video layout should make it easy to understand where each camera is located, which way it points and which area it covers. Fabrik starts from an existing floor plan and focuses the work on this 2D representation, equipment references and document layout.
Optical parameters can be used to show coverage sectors and pixel-density thresholds on a horizontal projection. They do not replace an advanced CCTV study that accounts for mounting height, tilt, physical obstructions, lighting, network architecture or storage.
For a French video-protection authorisation, Fabrik keeps the exported plan separate from the administrative form. It can prefill the CERFA from the plan, but it does not produce the presentation report or the complete set of supporting documents.
The same building can support other plan families in Fabrik. This maintains a consistent visual presentation across video, intrusion, fire-system, intervention and evacuation documents without turning Fabrik into a specialist engineering suite.
A readable 2D plan convention
A horizontal sector is straightforward for operators, installers and the authorities to read. Position, direction, camera reference and covered area remain visible without opening a 3D scene or using a proprietary camera database.
Information reused across documents
Camera numbering and recorded properties avoid entering the same information again when preparing the French CERFA form and its appendix. The plan and the form nevertheless remain two separate deliverables.
Fast updates when the site changes
Move a camera, change its direction or add equipment, then export the plan again. Fabrik makes the document easier to maintain without claiming to recalculate the full video-system architecture.
Frequently asked questions about video surveillance plans
Is Fabrik a 3D CCTV simulation package?
No. Fabrik produces 2D layout plans and documentary deliverables. It does not simulate mounting height, tilt, obstacles, lighting or the actual camera image like a specialist CCTV engineering package.
How is a camera field of view represented?
The camera displays an adjustable horizontal sector on the plan. You can enter the HFOV from the datasheet directly or derive it from optical parameters. The result remains a 2D projection.
Does Fabrik calculate storage and bandwidth?
No. The plan can show equipment and cable routes, but Fabrik currently does not size storage, bandwidth, network capacity or PoE requirements.
What does the French CERFA feature produce?
It prefills French form CERFA 13806*04 from project information and adds a camera summary appendix. The plan is exported separately, and the applicant still prepares the other supporting documents.
When is a detail plan required in France?
Article R252-3 of the French Internal Security Code requires one if the system views a public road or includes at least eight cameras. It must show the number and position of cameras and their covered areas.
Can the same floor plan support other documents?
Yes. Separate video, intrusion, fire-system, intervention and evacuation plans can be created for the same building while keeping a consistent presentation.
