The current scope for intrusion plans
The product is used to produce and maintain a 2D document. It does not select detectors, size the panel or validate system compliance.
Existing floor plan
Start with the available building plan and add security information in a separate document. There is no need to redraw the site geometry for every plan family.
Custom symbols
Import the symbols your company uses for detectors, contacts, panels, keypads, sirens and communicators. Fabrik does not yet include a complete ready-to-use intrusion equipment library.
Annotations and graphic zones
Add labels, references, colours and zones that make the document understandable. These remain plan annotations rather than an automatic detector-coverage calculation.
Cable routes
Connect equipment with the lasso or point by point to show routes on the plan. Fabrik does not generate an electrical diagram, loop calculation or automatic bill of materials.
Project organisation
Organise plans by client, site, building and floor to retrieve the right document for an update, handover or service visit.
Layout and export
Prepare a document with a consistent title block and graphic elements, then export it as PDF, PNG or SVG. The plan can be included in a technical file prepared separately.
A documentation tool, not an intrusion-design engine
The current need is straightforward: take an existing floor plan, record known equipment on it and produce a document that can be handed over and maintained. Fabrik is for teams that want consistent deliverables without deploying complex CAD software.
Technology choices, exact detector positioning, groups or partitions and system validation remain the responsibility of a qualified professional. Fabrik does not claim automatic validation against the French APSAD R81 installation rule, does not issue the French installer service certification (NF Service & APSAD I81) and does not replace the selection of NF&A2P-certified equipment. These references belong to the French security market; other countries apply their own standards.
The native intrusion library is not yet available. In the meantime, the editor accepts company-specific symbols and provides generic placement, annotation, cable-routing and export tools.
This approach also allows real demand to be tested before investing in heavier engineering features. Future additions will depend on observed customer and industry-partner use.
Reuse the same building
A prepared floor plan can support several separate documents: intrusion, video surveillance, fire systems, intervention or evacuation. Each plan keeps its own content while sharing a consistent presentation.
Adapt symbols to your practice
Importing custom symbols is the current way to reflect your company conventions or the equipment references selected for the project.
Maintain a usable document
When equipment is added or moved, update the plan and export the deliverable again. The software supports document maintenance without interpreting system-design rules.
Frequently asked questions about intrusion layout plans
Does Fabrik include an intrusion-detector library?
Not yet. The intrusion plan family is available, but its built-in trade library is still being developed. You can currently import and reuse your own symbols.
Does Fabrik calculate detector coverage?
No. Graphic zones can be drawn to explain the plan, but Fabrik does not calculate PIR ranges, obstacles, blind spots or a detector model's performance.
Can cable routes be drawn?
Yes. Cable tools connect equipment and show a route on the plan. They do not produce an electrical diagram, loop calculation or bill of materials.
Does the product validate compliance with the French APSAD R81 rule or NF&A2P mark?
No. Fabrik helps produce the graphic document for a system designed by a qualified professional. It does not audit compliance with the French APSAD R81 rule, does not issue the French NF Service & APSAD installer certification and does not certify NF&A2P equipment, a French product mark that does not apply to plans.
Can the same floor plan be used for video and evacuation documents?
Yes. Plan families remain separate, but they can start from the same building to keep geometry and presentation consistent.
What is the exported plan used for?
It can support presentation, handover, maintenance or updates. Other technical-file content, calculations and evidence are prepared separately.
